Tortriciforma chloroplaga Hampson
Tortriciforma chloroplaga Hampson, 1905, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7), 16: 587.
Tortriciforma chloroplaga Hampson; Holloway, 1976: 28.
Diagnosis
Sexual dimorphism is marked, males being much darker than females and with a dark, uniform reddish brown rather than a fawn, lightly banded hindwing (see Kobes, 1997, for illustration of the male). Both sexes have a characteristic forewing shape and a large green patch antemedially on the costa.
Taxonomic note
The material illustrated by Kobes (1997) appears also to be this species: it differs from viridipuncta in the broader green mark on the forewing costa and, in the male, a much redder colour to the hindwing. In the female genitalia the bursa is more convolute and with more definite, coarser spining. However, material from Java in RMNH, Leiden, appears to be closer in facies to viridipuncta.
Geographical range
