Suzukiana diehli Kiriakoff
Suzukiadiehli Kiriakoff, 1974: 407; Holloway 1976: 57, fig. 370.
Diagnosis
Both this and the next species share, in the forewing pattern, a characteristic, stepped, double postmedial, the anterior part, together with an interior dark line and a transverse dark dash at the reniform, being straight, parallel and roughly at right angles to the costa. S. diehli is greenish brown whereas S. pallida* Nakamura has blackish markings in a white ground and is generally more contrasty in appearance. *Taxonomic notes.
Suzukiana* Sugi is a replacement name for Suzukia Matsumura (Sugi 1979), though when the genus is revised it may prove that the older name Pheosiopsis Bryk is best applied to the whole group of taxa as the type species, niveipicta Bryk, is close to Suzukiana species in facies and male genitalia characters (Kiriakoff 1968: 182).
Geographical range
Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference
The species has been taken generally at higher altitudes than has pallida. On G. Kinabalu it was found to be uncommon from 1500 - 2600 m. It has been taken in upper montane forest on G. Mulu and Bukit Pagon.
Biology
Japanese Suzukiana species have been reared from larvae feeding on Fagaceae (Sugi & Nakatomi 1969).
