Schrankia obstructalis Walker comb. n.
Pyralis? obstructalis Walker, [1866] 1865, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus., 34: 1240.
Diagnosis
The dark, brownish forewing has an irregular greenish band, edged by narrow yellow postmedial and submarginal fasciae, that runs somewhat obliquely distad from the dorsum to the costa, generally tapering over its length. The postmedial has a component that is angled sharply basad in the discal area, thence extending in a curve to the costa at about three-fifths. The subbasal and antemedial fasciae similarly define a broader but less distinctly paler band; these are also angled basad subcostally.
Taxonomic note
The species was not listed by Poole (1989) because it was not recognised then as a noctuid.
Geographical range
Borneo.
Habitat preference
The holotype was taken by A.R. Wallace in Sarawak probably in the lowlands. A female from lowland dipterocarp forest at Ulu Dusun in Sabah, 30 miles west of Sandakan, is the only other specimen seen.
