Ramesa tripunctata Gaede
Psegmaphora tripunctata Gaede, 1930: 637.
Ramesa tripunctata Gaede;Kiriakoff, 1968: 68.
Tolmiana cyanosticta Kiriakoff, 1974: 376, syn. n.
Diagnosis
The forewings are pale bone grey, mottled and streaked with greenish-brown and spotted with dark bluish-grey, the oblique row of submarginal spots being distinctive; there is an oblique black subbasal streak in the centre of the wing.
Taxonomic notes.
R. tripunctata is the type species of Psegmaphora Gaede, as is cyanosticta of Tolmiana Kiriakoff. Therefore Tolmiana is a junior objective synonym of Psegmaphora and a subjective one of RamesaWalker, syns. n. The species is here retained in Ramesa because of shared features of uncus structure, though the genus as a whole merits review.
Geographical range
Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference
The species has been taken infrequently in lowland rain forest at Labi and Ulu Temburong in Brunei.
Biology
A congener, R. tosta Walker, has been reared from grass in India (Bell MS) but it would be dangerous to extrapolate this observation or the description of the larva to tripunctata until relationships within the genus have been reviewed.
