Pseudostauropus plagosus Gaede
Pseudostauropus plagosus Gaede, 1930: 631; Kiriakoff 1968: 167.
Diagnosis
The species resembles C. singapura but is smaller, with the forewing whiter, less distinctly fasciated, but with dark zones subapically and (smaller) subbasally on the costa.
Taxonomic Notes
The male genitalia illustrated by Kiriakoff (1968) for this species have nothing to do with it; they are in fact those of Schoutenia bivittata Kiriakoff (see Kiriakoff 1970: 107). The valve structure and forewing facies are similar to those illustrated for Thaila cinerascens Kiriakoff (1974: 446) from Thailand, though are not identical.
The two taxa are undoubtedly congeneric, therefore Thaila Kiriakoff is placed as a synonym of Pseudostauropus Gaede, **syn. n.*, * and the Thailand species becomes Pseudostauropus cinerascens Kiriakoff, comb. n.
Geographical range
Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference
The species is rare, recorded from lower montane forest on G. Mulu, at 450 m in hill dipterocarp forest Ulu Temburong, and from upper montane forest at about 1600 m on Bukit Retak and Bukit Pagon.
