Diagnosis
See Polynesia curtitibia above. There is sexual dimorphism, females being marked orange where males are more red.
Taxonomic Notes
Bethune-Baker comb. n. (New Guinea) is related to amplificata. The taxa phanoides Debauche (Sulawesi) and praelustris Prout (S. Moluccas), originally described as subspecies of amplificata, are distinct from it, and perhaps better placed as races of hebe.
Geographical Range
Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Luzon.
Habitat Preference
The species has been recorded infrequently from a range of lowland forest types including dry heath forest. Two were taken at 1618m on Bukit Retak in Brunei.
