Geographical Range
Indian Subregion, Burma, Sundaland.
Habitat Preference
This is a regularly encountered but generally uncommon species found in a range of lowland forest types. The highest record was from 975m on G. Monkobo in Sabah, and records during the Mulu survey suggest some preference for forest on limestone.
Biology
The larva was described and illustrated by Piepers & Snellen (1904). It is black or dark green, variegated with lighter green and covered with several short black hairs. It feeds on lichen and moss on tree trunks. Pupation is in a compact cocoon that appears like a little knob amongst the moss or in a looser one in more open situations.
