Phauda limbata Wallengren
Collistis limbata Wallengren, 1861, K. svenska Fregatten Eugenies Resa 2 (Zool. 1, Insecta), p. 361.
Diagnosis
This species resembles the type species in having the red a relatively carmine tint. The greyish brown at the apex of the forewing has an inner border with the curvature strongly oblique, running from the wing apex to the centre of the dorsum. In triadum Walker, with which limbata has been associated in the past (Jordan, 1907), and fortunii Herrich-Schäffer, the wings are slightly more orange, and the distal grey area is bounded by a semicircle based on the distal margin. The female genitalia (no males have been available for study) have the diameter of the ductus bursae in the coiled zone somewhat greater than in the triadum and flammans (Fig 11) females dissected.
Geographical range
Philippines, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra, Java, Borneo.
Habitat preference
There is an old specimen labelled just “Borneo”.
Biology.
