Diagnosis
This species is easily confused with the next, sundana Holloway, but has narrower forewings that are a more uniform and leaden grey colour and lack the pale area with black submarginal dots at the tornus. In the male genitalia the uncus is more slender than the gnathal processes rather than broader. Other characters are given by Holloway (1982a).
Geographical Range
India to Sumatra and Borneo.
Habitat Preference
In Borneo known from three males from lowland forest.
Taxonomic Note
Kobayashi & Kishida (2007) described a further member of the Phalera grotei group (Holloway, 1982), P. longa Kobayashi & Kishida, from Luzon in the Philippines, distinguishing it from surigaona Schaus, which they considered to be restricted to Mindanao.
