Diagnosis

The medium brown forewing facies is similar to that of some Bertula species such as alpheusalis and depressalis, particularly in the males where the postmedial has black markings immediately basad and distad towards the dorsum. These latter are lacking females, which have a much more uniform and regular pattern. The male labial palps characterise the genus, however (see above), and reach the centre of the abdomen in brontesalis

Geographical range

Borneo, N.E. Himalaya, Burma, Thailand (Kononenko & Pinratana, 2005), Peninsular Malaysia (Barlow colln), Sumatra, Philippines.

Habitat preference

The species is infrequent in the lowlands, taken in both forested and disturbed habitats. There have been no records from above about 200m in Borneo, but the species has been recorded from 610m in Peninsular Malaysia.
