Orvasca waterstradti Holloway comb. n.

Euproctis waterstradti Holloway, 1976: 47.

Diagnosis and taxonomic notes

The forewings are uniform pale grey, speckled lightly with black except, in the male (a more brown-grey), in elongate patches along the distal margin. The hindwings are dark grey, grading paler at themargin. The forewings below are a much darker grey than the hindwings. Identity is best confirmed from the male genitalia, particularly in relation to the next species which is externally similar, though smaller. The valves are deep, shaped as in some Rhypotoses Collenette species, but this portion represents the ventral arm of the divided Orvasca valve: the dorsal arm is short, rather stout, directed dorsally or inwardly. The rugose protrusion of the uncus and the saccular flap are both present, the latter short, broad, semicircular. However, the species all have a pair of minute spines posterior to the uncus that may be homologous with the paired processes in Artaxa.
