Diagnosis
This is another member of the osseata complex, but the forewings are a uniform rusty brown with a darker brown lunule postmedially near the tornal angle. The hindwings are also a richer pale brown. The male genitalia are similar to those of araea except the digitate process on the juxta is apically expanded and coarsely spiny. The aedeagus apex is much more broadly spined ventrally.
Geographical range
Sumatra, Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia.
Habitat preference
Both males were taken in the same lowland heath forest locality as for araea, above.
Biology
The specimen from Peninsular Malaysia was reared from a larva found at 600m at Genting Sempah by H.S. Barlow. The host-plant was Millettia (Leguminosae), but no details of the larva are available.
