Diagnosis
Both sexes are much more extensively reddish brown than in the next two species. The male is usually uniform brown rather than completely yellow, and in the female the medial area of the forewing and basal area of the hindwing may have a dull yellowish ground but this is much more heavily mottled with brown than in the next species.
Taxonomic Notes
The males occur in two forms: uniform brown with the forewing postmedial only slightly concave distad (typical); costa broadly greenish, postmedial strongly concave (jasminaria). The females also vary in the concavity of the postmedial. No genitalia differences could be detected so the forms are here treated as conspecific.
Geographical Range
Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra.
Habitat Preference
The species is commonest in lowland forests but extends up to about 1800m.
