Diagnosis

♂♀ 15-17mm.

This species is similar in size and facies to strix and relatives in Sumatra, Java and Bali.

The Sundanian species have more punctate red markings on the wing margins.

All are most reliably distinguished by characters of the male genitalia.

In altistrix the valves are long, narrow, the saccular process tongue-like, strongly scobinate.

In an undescribed Sumatran species (slide 17420) the saccular process is weak but the central margin of the valve is strongly sclerotised, with an acute spur.

In O. gemmans Prout stat. n. (Java, Bali) the saccular process is again tongue-like, but barely scobinate and more ventrally placed and obliquely oriented than in *altistrix.*Holotype ♂ SARAWAK: Gunung Mulu Nat.
