Diagnosis

See previous species.

The female hindwing is almost black, with a bluish iridescence, that of the male being more as in seranensis. The male genitalia are distinctive. O. uniformis Berio (Singapore, ?Peninsular Malaysia) is similar but without a darker border or medial bar to the forewing: the type has a pale border and tornus, the Peninsular specimen is uniform. O. uniformis may prove to occur in Borneo.

Taxonomic Notes

The male genitalia of pallidifimbria were illustrated by Holloway (1976). The Philippines species O. griseifusa Wileman & West is very similar in facies and genitalia, the latter having the apex of the tegumen more acute and the dorsal arm of the valve longer than the ventral one instead of equal to it. O. metamelaena Hampson (New Guinea, Bismarck Is.) has a more uniform forewing facies as in uniformis (the genitalia of the Peninsular female do not differ significantly from those of metamelaena) and the male genitalia have a broad, trilobed formation of uncus and tegumen, and the ventral arm of the valve is tapered rather than spatulate.

Geographical range

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.

Habitat preference

The species is infrequent from the lowlands to upper montane zone, being taken as high as 2000m on G. Kinabalu.

It has not been recorded from kerangas forest types either.
