Odonestis angulata Grunberg
Arguda angulata Grunberg, 1913, Ent. Rundsch ., 30: 104.
Diagnosis
Both sexes are a duller red than in vita. The forewing antemedial is strongly curved, delimiting an almost circular basal area, whereas this fascia is obscure in vita and diagnostically angled at one third from the costa.
The white discal spot is more prominent.
The male genitalia resemble those of Philippines races of vita in having the aedeagus spur slightly shorter, more abruptly tapered and the uncus without a bifurcate process (present in some Mindanao vita specimens). Both processes of the valve are relatively short, the lower ones diagnostically so.
The asymmetrically placed process of the eighth sternite is relatively short as in Philippines vita races.
Geographical range
Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra.
Habitat preference
All specimens have been taken in lowland localities, but the species is uncommon.
