Nothomiza xanthocolona Meyrick
Ephoria xanthocolona Meyrick, 1887, Trans. ent. Soc. London, 1897: 78.
Diagnosis
The pinkish wings with yellow triangles on the forewing costa render xanthocolona unmistakable.
Taxonomic Notes
The male genitalia show an asymmetry unusual in the genus.
Sommerer & Stüning (2002) recorded Nothomiza xanthocolona from Sumatra and described a new Sumatran species, N. ledih Sommerer & Stüning. They presented a more restricted definition of the genus, recognising ten species.
Geographical Range
Borneo, ?Singapore (H.N. Ridley specimen).
Habitat Preference
The only recent material seen is that from the Mulu survey, where the species was infrequent in lowland kerangas forest and in lower montane forest (G. Mulu and G. Api), an ecological ‘disjunction’ commented on by Holloway (1984).
