Diagnosis
See the generic account. The wings are medium brownish to pinkish grey, with bipunctate black discal marks. There are sinuous, punctate white postmedials, that of the hindwing becoming zigzag and expanding towards the dorsum, the most distinctive feature of the facies. The distal margins have black dashes in the spaces.
Geographical range
Indo-Australian tropics east to Queensland.
Habitat preference
The species appears to be rare but has been taken in a range of habitats from disturbed coastal forest to stunted hill forest at 1200m; the highest record is an old specimen from about 1500m on G. Poi. However, Chey (1994) recorded it in some frequency in all the lowland softwood plantations in his main survey near Brumas in the lowlands of Sabah.
Taxonomic notes
The synonymy above reflects the generic synonymy.
The holotype (Borneo) is in OUMNH (no. 1798) rather than in BMNH as stated by Poole (1989). It is probably a senior synonym (at the level of genus also) of Carmara subcervina Walker (Acontiinae), also described from Borneo.
