Narosodes hampsoni Draudt

Narasodes [sic] lithosioides Snellen sensu Hampson, 1900, *Cat. Lepid.

Phalaenae Br. Mus., 2: 266 (Pulo Laut specimen).

Narasodes [sic] hampsoni Draudt, 1914, Gross-Schmett. Erde, 10 :191.

Diagnosis and taxonomic note

The forewings are oval, a uniform pale reddish brown but slightly darker on the margin round the apex.

The hindwings are grey.

The venation, compared to the type species, has a much more regular arrangement of the five most posterior veins from the cell of the forewing, and stalking, rather than fusion, of M3 and CuA1 on the hindwing.

The valves are unlike those of punctana, being moderately sclerotised throughout and irregularly bilobed apically.

The aedeagus vesica (not everted) contains numerous moderate cornuti.

Geographical range

Borneo.

Habitat preference

The species is only known from the holotype, a male from Pulo Laut, misidentified as the next species by Hampson (1900).
