Taxonomic Note

Poole (1989) and Yoshimatsu (1994) indicated secondary homonymy of the name albicosta Moore within Leucania. Holloway (1976 and in Part 12) associated the older homonym, Leucania albicosta Moore (1881, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1881: 338), with this Pseudaletia species in error, rather than the junior homonym, Aletia albicosta Moore (1882, Descr. new Indian lepid. Insects Colln Atkinson, 2: 97). Poole (1989) indicated that pallidicosta Hampson is the available replacement name for the junior homonym. The senior homonym is currently in combination with Aletia Hübner (Poole, 1989).
