Diagnosis
Both Bornean members of the genus have its characteristic facies, but in melanapex Inoue the anterior border to the forewing medial hyaline zone is narrower and more angular, and the forewing apex and two central teeth of the hindwing margin are tipped black.
Identity should be confirmed by dissection in worn specimens.
Geographical range
Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java.
Habitat preference
The original material consisted of six specimens from 1620m and 1930m on G. Kinabalu.
A singleton has been taken at 1000m (lower montane forest) on G. Mulu, two specimens at the same altitude at Kundasang on the southern side of G. Kinabalu, and one at 1465m on Bukit Retak in Brunei.
