Diagnosis
This is the smaller of the two montane species. The fringes of the eyes and upper surfaces of the labial palps and forelegs are black. In all other Bornean Leucoma they are orange-red.
Taxonomic Notes
All the taxa included in synonymy above have a similar type of male genitalia, with a large process from the costa on the right valve and also a small one on the left. This right process is straight in typical sericea, curled and convolute in Bornean material, intermediate between the first two in Sulawesi and slightly curved on a more sickle-shaped valve in New Guinea. True ‘Euproctis’ virgo Swinhoe (Burma) is in the group that includes wilemani Collenette (See ‘Euproctis’ wilemani Collenette).
Geographical Range
India; W. China (ssp. horridula); Borneo; Sulawesi (ssp. loda); New Guinea (ssp. avolaensis = tafa).
Habitat Preference

Biology
The larva has been recorded as feeding on Juglans (Juglandaceae) in Kashmir (unpublished IIE records).
