Hypena ischyra Prout
Hypena ischyra Prout, 1932, Zool. Meded. Leiden, 14: 208.
Diagnosis
See the previous two species.
Taxonomic note
Material from Sulawesi (slide 19585) has the forewing postmedial generally less strongly triarcuate, though this is variable in the long Bornean series.
Geographical range
Java, Peninsular Malaysia (Prout, 1932), Borneo, Sulawesi.
Habitat preference
Like jugalis, ischyra is frequent in lowland forest. Only one specimen has been taken in montane forest: from 1780m on G. Mulu. In the samples from lowland forest in the Danum Valley area mentioned under jugalis above (S.J. Willott, unpublished data), 167 specimens were recorded (as mandatalis) from the understorey but none from the canopy of unlogged forest. 26 were recorded from a smaller number of samples from logged forest.
