Diagnosis
This is a small species with weak, rather straight fasciation on the upperside, the strongest fascia being the blackish submarginal of the forewing. The underside has the fasciae very much stronger in dark brown, the first postmedial being flanked by much broader medials and submarginals on both wings. The furca of the male genitalia has the arms asymmetric, darker, one much longer than the other.
Taxonomic Notes
The species shares with H. rectifascia Hampson possession of a tuft of scale setae on male sternite 4 as discussed in the generic description.
Geographical Range
Borneo, Singapore, Java, N.E. Himalaya.
Habitat Preference
No recent material has been seen. Old Bornean material is from lowland localities (Baram, Penungah, Pulo Laut).
