Diagnosis

This and the next species are very similar, pale brown with a distinctlyangular postmedial on the forewing. In sumatrana the ground colour is slightly more ochreous, and the posterior angle of the postmedial is less obtuse, more a right-angle; the central section of the postmedial along CuA1 is straight rather than slightly curved.

Sundaland.

Habitat preference

The species has been recorded infrequently from forests, with varying degrees of disturbance, from the lowlands to 1620m, including stunted hill forest (Bukit Monkobo) and montane scrub on limestone (three specimens from 1500 on G. Api). Chey (1994) recorded the species frequently in secondary forest and softwood plantations at Brumas in the lowlands of Sabah.

The species has been reared from Rubus in Sumatra (M.D. Sommerer, pers. comm.).
