Diagnosis

The wings are medium grey, the forewings with a series of transverse, darker grey fasciae and the hindwings with the fasciae strongly oblique, angled back towards the dorsum on the axis of the more posterior of the two weak tails.

Taxonomic notes

Vein M2 is missing from the hindwing, and the genitalia are generally similar to those of other species showing this feature in the genera from Pseudodirades to Oroplema above. The tegumen is narrow, with a distinctive triangular lacuna at the base of the uncus. The type species of Gathynia Walker has very different male genitalia as discussed above in the description of *Warreniplema.

Borneo.

Habitat preference

The only specimen, a male, was taken at 1500m on the Pinosuk Plateau of G. Kinabalu in what was then majestic montane forest. It has now been almost completely cleared for development.
