Diagnosis
The forewing is striking, with a rich rufous basal half divided from a dark grey distal half by a fine, transverse white fascia that has a slight angle just basal to a narrow, black-edged, white discal bar. The marginal zone may also have an irregular and diffusely bounded pale area. The underside is brownish grey with diffuse blackish discal marking, and postmedials and submarginals; these are more intense on the hindwing.
Geographical range
N.E. Himalaya, Thailand (Kononenko & Pinratana, 2005), Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra (Lödl, 1999e), Java, Borneo, Sulawesi.
Habitat preference
Records are from the lowlands to 1980m, mostly in forested localities, but the species is generally uncommon.
