Diagnosis

The forewings are grey with a series of diffuse, darker, brownish arcs traversing them. There are irregular greenish patches subtornally, associated with the reniform and, in particular, subbasally at the costa. Many specimens have two white sagittate marks just distal to the postmedial centrally.

Geographical range

N.E. Himalaya, W. China, Thailand, Sundaland.

Habitat preference

Four specimens have been taken at 1760m, 1930m and 2600m on G. Kinabalu. There is a fifth taken in recent surveys in Brunei from an area with swamp forest almost at sea level at Ulu Belait. There is also older material from G. Marapok and G. Kinabalu without precise data.

Taxonomic Note

Eudocima discrepans has been reared from Tinomiscium (Menispermaceae) in Singapore (Leong, 2009h). The larva is grey with diffusely bounded oblique black bands anteriorly, back from the prolegs on A6 and over the anal zone posterior to the hump. There are numerous, small, black-bordered bars and dots of white and (from the spiracles ventrally) blue throughout, and large ocelli on both A2 and A3.
