Eubryopterella cinerea Holloway sp. n.

Diagnosis

♂♂, ♀ 17-19mm. The facies is similar to that of the slightly smaller vaneeckei, but more variegated, with a bluer tinge and stronger curvature to the postmedial and submarginal fasciae distal to the cell. The fasciae on the underside are more clearly defined and curved, but irregular rather than straight. The hindwing has a paler, slightly greenish area, but this extends over the basal two thirds rather than over the costal third. In the male genitalia the valve processes are more robust than in vaneeckei but in a similar position. The apex of the valve is rounded rather than slightly upcurved and falcate. The saccus is more convex on each side, less acutely tapered.

Geographical range

Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra (HS / ZSM).

Habitat preference

This is a rare species of lowland dipterocarp forest, swamp forest and lower montane forest.
