Diagnosis

The wings are densely speckled and suffused with vinous black on pale yellow, this ground colour only being conspicuous in postmedial and submarginal rows of spots and in chequering of the fringes, which makes them appear ragged. There may also be a yellow spot at the centre of the hindwing.

Geographical range

Singapore, Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia.

Habitat preference

Five specimens have been taken in recent surveys, all in lowland forest, mostly disturbed or secondary, and at or below 300m; this highest being on G. Santubong near Kuching in Sarawak, the others being from Seria and Lamunin, at or near the coast of Brunei, and at Brumas and Kg. Tampenau (Lahad Datu to Danum road, 17 km from the former)  in Sabah.
