Diagnosis
The male is similar to that of trima though the transverse forewing fasciation is reduced to a discal dash and a submarginal that fades away posteriorly; the forewings are square distally. The male genitalia are strikingly different as can be seen from the illustrations. The females are more similar in facies and are best separated by genitalic features: in tuaranensis the lamella vaginalis is much deeper, with four distinct processes.

Borneo.
Habitat preference
The holotype was taken at the Agricultural Research Station, Tuaran in the lowlands of Sabah. A further male and female were reared from cocoa at the same locality by P. Thien in 1977 and identified by Dr J.D. Bradley as D. trima.
Biology
A host-plant is Theobroma (Sterculiaceae) but no larval description has been located.
