Comibaena fuscidorsata Prout stat n

Comibaena quadrinotata fuscidorsata Prout, 1912 a: 101.

Diagnosis

This species is similar to the previous two in size.

It is distinguished by very dark brown tornal and apical patches that are larger than in cassidara but lack the orange centres of those of biplaga.

Taxonomic Notes

The male genitalia are almost identical to those of cassidara, yet the facies resembles that of quadrinotata Butler.

In the latter the uncal processes are less hooked and the spur from the valve costa is smaller, subapical rather than subbasal.

Geographical range

N.E. Himalaya, Borneo, Sumatra.

Habitat preference

Records indicate this to be a rare species of lowland forest, though one specimen was taken at 1000m on G. Mulu.
