Clettharina macrocorema Holloway sp. n.

♂ 14mm, ♀♀ 13mm. This species has a male very similar to the unique holotype of nitens, but lacking the dull golden triangular area of the hindwing. The females have the basal area of the forewing suffused golden. The male abdomen has the pair of pouches on the basal sternite rather than the third, rounder, and with a massive corema in each rather than a vestigial one. The differences on the eighth segment have been described in the generic account. The male genitalia have the uncus more reduced, the upper part of the valve with a more angular apical flexure, and there is an obtuse angle to the lower part at one-third. It is not clear whether a female from Peninsular Malaysia (slide 16994) is referable to nitens or macrocorema but it has the bursa copulatrix centrally constricted rather than somewhat rectangular as in Bornean females.

Geographical range

Borneo, ?Peninsular Malaysia (female referred to above).

Habitat preference

All three specimens are from lowland dipterocarp forest.
