Diagnosis
See the generic description for general features and sexual dimorphism. The male has the oblique postmedial dividing the forewing into a darker basal half and a paler distaal one in browish purple. The female is a darker less brown purple, with this grading darkest from either side into the postmedial, and with dark grey hindwings rather than reddish ones as in similar Diehlea species.
Taxonomic note
The genitalia and facies of hemichlora indicate that this taxon is conspecific with repandens.
Geographical range
Sundaland, Philippines (ZMUC), Sulawesi, Seram.
Habitat preference
The species is uncommon, all six specimens in recent surveys being taken in lowland forest, including swamp forest.
Biology
Yunus & Ho (1980) gave Melaleuca (Myrtaceae) as a larval host-plant.
