As indicated in the generic description, Carbia differ from Pomasia Guenée species in having a series of two or three pale submarginal fasciae that are more or less straight, distal to a strongly M-shaped postmedial. The hindwings are unfasciated, whereas in Pomasia fasciae are present, usually as strong as on the forewing.
C. calescens* has grey forewings combined with pale orange hindwings, with a diagnostic dark brown lunule distal to the central part of the postmedial ‘M’ of the forewing.
