Caduca phronimus Rothschild stat n
Caduca albopunctata phronimus Rothschild, 1920, J. Fed. Malay St. Mus., 8: 121.
Diagnosis
The hindwings are similar to those of albopunctata, though more obscurely marked. The forewings are paler, particularly basal to the postmedial where they are more of a bone colour and fasciated irregularly darker; only the costa is dark brown, broken by bars of the bone colour, the brown broadest in a central triangle.
Taxonomic note
The specific status of *phronimus is indicated by sympatry withallopunctata and differences in the male genitalia as well as facies: the processes of the valves are broader; the saccus is bilobed.
Geographical range
Sumatra, Borneo, Thailand (VK).
Habitat preference
The species is much rarer thanalbopunctata, with three specimens recorded in recent surveys, two from lowland forest (150m on G. Mulu and 300m in the Ulu Temburong) and one from lower montane forest (900m on G. Api).*
