Diagnosis

See B. joviana above.

Geographical range

Moluccas to Palau, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and New Caledonia, Sulawesi, Philippines, Borneo, Java.

Both Bornean specimens reliably identified as vitiensis by dissection are from G. Kinabalu: a female from 1930m in the series listed by Holloway (1976) for joviana; a male without precise data collected by Waterstradt.

Robinson (1975) recorded the larval host as Eucalyptus (Myrtaceae), atypical within the genus. This record and another more suspect one from Hibiscus (Malvaceae) are reviewed by Holloway & Miller (2003).
