♂ (holotype)

Axinoptera ruficosta Holloway sp. n.

♂ 6mm, putative ♀ 7mm. The facies is very close to that of orphnobathra but the postmedials, though as strongly flexed, are somewhat strongly angled. The angle of the male costa is more distal than in orphnobathra, and the costal zone is broadly rufous between the angle and the apex: the white marginal spot of the hindwing is prominent. The facies of the putative female is difficult to distinguish from that of orphnobathra, but the genitalia (slide 10793) are different. The male has the valves bilaterally asymmetric, only the left one having a long ventral arm.

The aedeagus vesica has a row of several slender cornuti, more than in any other Bornean species. The female genitalia have the ductus much broader than in orphnobathra, and the bursa is more globular, less elongate. There is a distinctive pair of pouches on the lamella antevaginalis.
