Diagnosis

The forewing shape is distinctive. The facies varies, often having extensive dark brown clouding and pale grey patches. There is usually a submarginal row of black spots on both wings, associated with pale grey marks that develop into chevrons near the apex, and there is a similar postmedial row, though the development of each is again variable, the submarginal row better defined anteriorly and the postmedial posteriorly.

Geographical range

Sumatra, Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, S. Burma.

Habitat preference

Bornean material is mostly from lowland localities where there is coastal, swamp or heath forest. Single specimens have been taken in lower montane forest (1000m) on G. Mulu and upper montane forest (1618m) in Bukit Retak.
