This species is distinguished from species with similar facies in Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand by its male genitalia as discussed above. These are similar to those of the next species, with the base of the uncus broadened into a semicircle on each side. The markings of abdomen and thorax are white in this species but yellow in the next, the basal abdominal ring being broader in the next and usually unbroken dorsally. The transparent spot in the forewing cell is usually more elongate in transitiva, usually separated by a much narrower zone of black. In the male genitalia the basal flanged zone is broader in the next species, extends relatively further towards the apex of the uncus, which is deeper.

Habitat Preference

Specimens seen have been from Bidi and Kuching in the lowlands of Sarawak. The species appears to be much rarer than Auriculoceryx pterodactyliformis.
