Asura fulguritis Hampson

Asura fulguritis Hampson, 1900, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus., 2: 450.

Asura birivula Hampson, 1900, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus., 2:450, syn. n.

Diagnosis

The facies is more typical of Lyclene Moore species (see below), with greyish brown lineation on yellow, but the basal zone of the forewing has a characteristic ‘stomatal’ pattern, and there are two fasciae between that and the submarginal longitudinal streaks, rather than one as in the biseriata Hampson group.

Geographical Range

Bali, Java, Sumatra, Pulo Laut; Borneo (incl. Pulo Laut), Peninsular Malaysia (ssp. birivula).

Habitat Preference

The species is frequent in lowland and lower montane forest, recorded up to 1530m.
