Diagnosis

The forewings are relatively elongate, a medium grey with a strongly angled and very fine, broken, blackish postmedial and a similar oblique antemedial that lacks an angle or is weakly angled subcostally. Some specimens of ostentalis Walker (see below) have uniformly grey forewings but they are smaller and have the fasciae paler, entire and much less acutely angled; also (see below) there is a white discal dot, that is not seen in erebusalis

Geographical range

Sri Lanka, Nicobars, Singapore, Borneo, New Guinea, Bismarcks, Queensland.

Habitat preference

Bornean material is restricted to two old specimens labelled “Sarawak”.
