Arna minutissima Swinhoe comb. n.stat. rev.

Euproctis minutissima Swinhoe, 1903, Trans. ent. Soc. London, 1903: 425.

Diagnosis and taxonomic note

The male has the forewings pale yellow with a submarginal black dot at one third from the costa; the hindwings are, paler, whiter in the Bornean male but dark grey in the unique holotype male from Singapore. It is probable that the next species is based on the female, but this needs confirmation through the rearing of siblings of both sexes. The male genitalia are similar to those of mesilauensis and A. erema Collenette comb. n. & stat. rev.: The eighth tergite is divided into two prominent lobes like the ears of Mickey Mouse!

Geographical range

Singapore, Borneo.

Habitat preference

The single Bornean male seen was taken in the understorey of primary forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre, Sabah.
