Argyrocosma strepens Prout stat. n.
Argyrocosma phrixopa strepens Prout, 1932, J. Fed. Malay States Mus. 17: 46.
Diagnosis
This species has white punctate fasciae as in Comostolodes and congeners, but the spots are not edged strongly with red, and the forewing postmedial is strongly curved.
The wings generally have a distinctive flecking of paler striae.
Taxonomic Notes
The male genitalia of A. phrixopa Meyrick (Java, Lesser Sundas) are very similar to those of A. argosticta Turner (Queensland), whereas those of strepens have the bifurcations of the uncus more widely separated, and longer valves with a more robust costal spur.
Hence strepens is elevated to specific status.
Geographical range
Borneo, Sumatra, Sulawesi.
Habitat preference
Only the holotype is known from Borneo, taken at about 200m at Kabayau near G. Kinabalu.
