Diagnosis

The two species resemble a more delicate Plotheia exacta Semper in their dull green, more darkly fasciated forewings with a large reniform, but these have a square distal margin and a more elongate, less apical grey patch on the costa, but this is faint and more greenish in many specimens.

The two differ only slightly, with meterythra having a redder hindwing (cf. greyish) and a slightly paler, more uniform forewing.

In the male genitalia the valves are more elongate and their costal process reduced in meterythra; in the female the ductus and bursa are shorter.

Taxonomic Notes

The holotype of singaporicola is a male with genitalia (see above) distinct from those of metascotia Hampson.

It differs in having redder hindwings than metascotia and is therefore presumed to be the male of meterythra, which was described from a female.

Geographical range

Burma, Singapore, Borneo.

Habitat preference

There is one old specimen from Bidi in the lowlands of Sarawak.
