Aemene clarimaculata Holloway sp. n.

Parasiccia marginipuncta Talbot sensu Barlow, 1982: 70.

♂♂, ♀♀ 8-11mm. This is a smaller species than marginipunctawith larger black dots, particularly the discal dot which is usually distinctly larger than those of the postmedial immediately surrounding it. The male antennae are ciliate. The male genitalia have the apex of the valve bifid as in marginipuncta, but slightly differently angled, and there is a terminal spine to the sacculus not seen in the other species. The aedeagus vesica is more lobed, with three groups of short spines and fields of general scobination as distinct from one large cluster of longer slender spines.

  • 4 ♂♂ SARAWAK: Gunong Mulu Nat. Park, R.G.S. Exped. 1977-8 (J.D. Holloway et al.), Sites 19 (100m, W. Melinau Gorge, alluvial forest), 23 and 24 (250m and 270m, W. Melinau Gorge, forest on limestone).

Geographical range

Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia (slide 5251).

Habitat preference

The species is infrequent in lowland dipterocarp forest.
