Acropteris leptaliata Guenée
Micronia leptaliata Guenée, 1857, Hist. nat. Insectes, Spec. Gen. Lep., 10: 28.
Diagnosis
This species is smaller than rectinervata with a more acute hindwing angle. The hindwing has broader bands of striae such that the most distal white band seen in rectinervata is obscured or very much reduced. The male genitalia have only a single digitate process on the valve costa, and the dorsal lobes of the juxta are reduced, the lateral ones absent.
Taxonomic notes
The holotype of vagata has lost its abdomen, so the above synonymy is based on facies only. There is a complex of species of similar size but with genitalia more as in the first two species (double costal process, fully lobed juxta) that includes A. munda Warren (Larat), A. teriadataGuenée (New Guinea) and a mainland Asian species (e.g. slide 255)that has been attributed to sparsaria Walker. The original description of sparsariarefers to a species like Micronia aculeata rather than to an Acropteris, though the specimen labelled as type of sparsaria in The Natural History Museum is of this other species: the label states ‘E. Ind’ rather than Hindostan as in the description of sparsaria.
Geographical range
